Mulfra Quoit, Cornwall
- Located in Mulfra, Cornwall, South West England, England
- A quoit is an ancient tomb. Ordinarily, a large flat stone is supported by a number of upright stones to form a single burial chamber. These stones would have been covered by earth. Given the age and exposed location of quoits on The Land's End Peninsula (The Penwith Peninsula), the earth coverings have been eroded over millennia to reveal the stone structures we see today. These tombs can be found all over the UK, for example in Dartmoor and Pembrokeshire
- Dating from the Neolithic or New Stone Age (4000 - 2500BC), Mulfra Quoit is located on Mulfra Hill on the high moors of The Land's End Peninsula (The Penwith Peninsula). Mulfra Quoit provides sensational views over Mount's Bay towards The Lizard Peninsula. St Michael's Mount is particularly impressive
- We've positioned Mulfra Quoit on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its exact location. Also refer to the Ordnance Survey Explorer 102 'Land's End' map for detail. There are numerous paths running across Mulfra Hill that lead to Mulfra Quoit. We've walked to Mulfra Quoit from Zennor, Treen and via the Tinner's Way
