Morwellham and Tamar Trails, Cornwall
- Located in Gunnislake, Cornwall, South West England, England
- The Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape is, in our opinion, one of the most remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the UK. Some of the ten areas that make up this UNESCO World Heritage Site have been turned into leisure attractions. The Tavistock and Tamar area is a good example
- Today, you can explore this area on a series of off-road trails called the Morwellham and Tamar Trails. We'd recommend starting from the Tamar Trails Centre at Bedford Sawmills. Car park and visitor centre are pretty much in the middle of this series of trails. Follow the Devon Great Consols Mineral Railway Trail north and then west to the cluster of mines that formed Devon Great Consols. Follow the same Railway Trail south to the area around Morwellham Quay
- You can hire bikes for a very reasonable price at the Tamar Trails Centre. Note that the Morwellham and Tamar Trails are among a range of leisure activities in the area. Also try Tree Surfing and Canoe Tamar
- The full list of Morwellham and Tamar Trails is:
- Wheal Maria Trail
- Devon Great Consols Mineral Railway Trail
- Wheal Josiah Trail
- Chimney Rock Trail
- Canal Tunnel Trail
- Sheepridge Trail
