  • Lavenham is a beautifully preserved medieval village which was built on the success of the wool trade. It has a wealth of Tudor timber framed buildings
  • Guildhall Of Corpus Christi is the best of these buildings and was built around 1529 overlooking the market square
  • The building was used by a religious guild of local merchants until the guild was dissolved in 1560
  • It has been used as a town hall in the seventeenth century, a prison, wool store and a workhouse. During World War Two it housed evacuees
  • Today the Guildhall has a museum with exhibits on the medieval cloth industry. You can follow the changing fortunes of Lavenham.
  • Children can also dress up in Tudor costumes
