Fernworthy Reservoir, Devon

Fernworthy's a large reservoir popular with walkers to the south west of Chagford in Dartmoor National Park
If you're up for a reasonably long walk, we'd recommend following the path that runs around its shoreline. Start from the spacious car park on the south east side of the reservoir. Head towards the impressive dam where you drop down to cross the South Teign River before climbing to the north west side of the water. From there, follow the shoreline and path and road until you're back at the car park
This walk takes you through areas of Fernworthy Forest. The forest is great for walking and look out for one of its many standing stones and stone circles
We'd also suggest that you walk through the forest onto the high moors. Sittaford Tor and the nearby Grey Wethers Stone Circles are fun. You can also head onto the high moors around Whitehorse Hill and Hangingstone Hill although it does get boggy in wet weather
Other Dartmoor reservoirs include Venford Reservoir, Avon Reservoir, Burrator Reservoir, Meldon Reservoir and Dam, Kennick Reservoir, Tottiford Reservoir and Trenchford Reservoir
