Best Beaches in West Cornwall, Cornwall

  • Located in Cornwall, South West England, England
  • The Land's End Peninsula (The Penwith Peninsula) is a relatively small area. Blond sand, polished granite cliffs and blue-green seas combine to form some of the best beaches in South West England and the UK. When the light is clean and bright, the beaches in this list are exceptional. Note that we include the coastline from St Ives around to the Marazion area in our list. Click through on each recommendation to learn more. Each beach is located on Google maps and has a 'Photo Gallery'
  • Pedn Vounder Beach - this is the east end of the sweep of blond sand in Porthcurno Bay. The view from Logan Rock Headland is special
  • Sennen Cove Beach - this is the south section of Whitesand Bay. There are places to eat, drink and shop at Sennen Cove
  • Nanjizal Beach - you have to walk in to enjoy this beach. The walk keeps visitor numbers down. Beautiful place
  • Porthcurno Beach - a very popular beach that's always on 'Top 10' lists in the national press. Porthcurno Beach is at the west end of the sweep of blond sand in Porthcurno Bay
  • Portheras Cove - this is a secluded beach within the St Just Mining District of the UNESCO Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. You have to walk in but the experience is rewarding
  • Marazion Beach (West) - Mounts Bay is fringed with beaches. A huge arc of sand runs between Penzance and Marazion. We'd recommend the east end of this area near the National Trust's St Michael's Mount
  • St Ives Porthminster Beach - a highly accessible beach with great facilities. The views across the water to St Ives Harbour are wonderful. Given its accessibility, the beach gets busy
  • Hayle Beach - the south end of the huge stretch of sand lining St Ives Bay. We'd recommend walking the length of the sand
  • Gwithian Beach - the north end of St Ives Bay. Popular with surfers
  • Nearby, try:
  • Prussia Cove - famous for its smuggling heritage. A cluster of rock and sand coves. Atmospheric place
