National Parks, Natural Beauty, UNESCO World Heritage
North Yorkshire is home to two National Parks. North York Moors National Park is to the east of the county and borders the North Sea. Yorkshire Dales National Park is to the west of the county and pushes all the way up to the M6 motorway and Cumbria.

There are also three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The Howardian Hills, Nidderdale and the North Pennines are close to the National Parks.

There's a UNESCO World Heritage Site at Studley Royal Park and Fountains Abbey.

York, top towns and villages
North Yorkshire is home to one of the UK's most popular cities, York, and some well known towns such as Whitby, Harrogate, Scarborough, Saltburn-by-the-Sea, Middlesbrough, Richmond, Robin Hoods Bay and Northallerton.

Its villages are often stunning. Try Ingleton, Rievaulx, Malham and Conistone.

Coastline and culture
North Yorkshire boasts an exceptional coastline with excellent walking and nationally important culture including the JORVIK Viking Centre, National Railway Museum, Yorkshire Air Museum and York City Art Gallery.

Historical goodies
The county is packed with historical goodies including York Minster, Richmond Castle, Helmsley Castle, Castle Howard, Cliffords Tower, York Castle, Scarborough Castle and Ayton Castle.

It's world famous for its abbeys and priories. Try Fountains Abbey World Heritage Site, Mount Grace Priory, Kirkham Priory, Bolton Priory and Whitby Abbey.

Fine outdoors
Outdoors, you're spoilt for choice. With so many National Parks and AONB's, it's hard to go wrong. Try Aysgarth Waterfalls, Malham Cove, Gordale Scar, Ribblehead Viaduct and Gaping Gill.
