From beautiful, ancient hill top towns to glamorous coastal getaways, from internationally historically important destinations to popular TV locations, England is home to scores of impressive towns. Given that we only have ten choices available to us, this list should be taken as a starting point. We'd suggest you also look at more specific 'Top 10 Towns' lists in our summary guides to counties, National Parks and AONBs. For example, look at Devon, Dartmoor National Park and South Devon AONB. By James Penman.
