Cranborne Manor Gardens
Cranborne Manor dates from the 13th century and has been owned by the Cecil family since Elizabeth 1. The formal gardens were laid out by the famous John Tradescant, including a white garden. The house is closed to the public but the gardens are open every Wednesday from March to September.

The village
Cranborne Manor Garden Centre has a wide selection of plants, specialising in roses, and the very upmarket gift shop is open all year. The Cranborne Estate supplies traditional breed meat to Cranborne Stores in the Village which also stocks a large range of Dorset produce. The Fleur de Lys pub is said to feature in Thomas Hardy's novels.

Things to do nearby
The Ancient Technology Centre Can be found behind Cranborne Middle School. Begun in the 1980's, it includes an Iron Age hut and a Viking longhouse. It hosts educational trips for schools, vocational courses and story telling events. Walks nearby include the Chase water meadows and footpaths to Boveridge and Pentridge.
