Beaches in Exeter
Exeter is located close to many impressive sections of Devon coast. If you're holidaying in the city for any period of time, we'd recommend heading out to some of the beaches listed below. We've positioned these attractions on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see their exact locations. We'd also suggest you walk the South West Coast Path in these locations.

Budleigh Salterton Beach, Devon

Much photographed pebble beach arcing from high red cliffs around to Otterton Ledge. Within the East Devon AONB. A little further along the coast to the north east are Ladram Bay Sea Stacks.

Sidmouth Beach

One of two very popular resort beaches in Sidmouth. This one backs onto The Esplanade and the commercial centre of the town.

Sidmouth (Jacob's Ladder) Beach

Pebble beach beneath Sidmouth Cliffs (West). Descend Jacob's Ladder to visit the beach.

Orcombe Point Beach, Devon

Orcombe Point is the beginning, or end, of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. There's a good sand beach to its west.

Exmouth Beach

Exmouth is another top East Devon seaside resort. There's a big sweep of beach here with views across to Warren Point and Dawlish Warren Beach.

Orcombe Rocks Beach, Devon

When the tide's out, visit Sandy Bay Beach. Set beneath Jurassic Coast cliffs.

Dawlish Warren Beach, Devon

Exceptionally popular beach. We'd recommend walking north easst from the main resort to Warren Point. Explore Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve as well.

Teignmouth Beach, Devon

Teignmouth is a bustling seaside resort to the north of The English Riviera. Visit Teignmouth Pier.

The English Riviera

Our last two recommendations are areas within Devon. The English Riviera is a classic UK holiday destination. When the sun's out, the area is stunning.

Dartmouth , South Devon AONB

We provide a 'Top 10 Recommended Beaches in South Devon' list so click through to the guide to see our choices. As a general rule, pebble and shingle beaches are to the east and sand beaches are to the south.
