Top 10 Recommended Weekend Breaks in Cornwall

Weekend Breaks in Cornwall
Cornwall's easily accessible. By road, the M5 runs into the A30 which takes you to the south west of the county around Penzance and St. Ives. Trains run regularly from, for example, Paddington in central London to this part of the world. You can even fly to Newquay. Given this accessibility, why not book a long weekend break? If the idea appeals, here are our 'Top 10 Recommended Weekend Breaks in Cornwall'. Browse our other 'Top 10' lists for further ideas.

St. Ives

For the town itself (including Tate St Ives, St Ives Harbour and its many beaches) and for its surroundings. St Ives Bay is as good as anything in the UK. Land's End, Sennen Cove Beach etc to the south on The Land's End Peninsula (The Penwith Peninsula).

River Camel and Estuary

Stay in, or around, Padstow. Explore the many beaches that line the estuary or cycle The Camel Trail. Close to the west are Mother Ivey's Bay and Booby's Bay. Visit Rock and Polzeath.

The Eden Project

Base yourself in Fowey or St. Austell. Take a day to experience The Eden Project's 'Biomes' and 'Core'. Also visit the Cornish Alps and Wheal Martyn China Clay Country Park nearby. We'd also suggest you explore the Charlestown Harbour area.

Bodmin Moor

Cornwall offers great coastal, river and moorland walking. The obvious place to visit for the latter is Bodmin Moor. We'd recommend Rough Tor (Bodmin) to Showery Tor.

St. Mawes, Cornwall

South Cornwall and across the water from Falmouth. Amazing coastline and exceptional beauty. Walk, take a boat or just eat and drink at one of the many restaurants and pubs. A castle, too.

Calstock, Tamar Valley AONB

Not that well know which is a great shame as the area's stunning. On the Cornwall and Devon border and close to the south west fringe of Dartmoor National Park. Click on the Tamar Valley AONB listing to learn more about the local area..

Lanhydrock House

One of the UK's finest National Trust properties between Bodmin Moor and The Eden Project. Take a long weekend and visit all three.

Whitesand Bay

On a sunny day (any time in the year), this is a memorable place. Remarkable beauty and colours. Land's End and many of the great sites of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site are close.

St Michael's Mount

South Cornwall. Base yourself in Marazion or Penzance. A little further afield, try Mousehole or Porthleven. St. Ives is to the north. Explore The Land's End Peninsula (The Penwith Peninsula).

Port Isaac

Classic Cornish fishing harbour on the north coast. Try also Tintagel and Boscastle. All the way to the north, Bude has a dramatic Atlantic coastline.
