Top 10 Recommended Rainy Days Out in Cornwall

Rainy Days Out in Cornwall
We've arranged Cornwall rainy day activities by theme. Thankfully, there's plenty to do when the rain settles in so take advantage of the wet weather to discover a Cornwall away from the beaches and sea. Also remember that Cornwall's a relatively small place so if it's raining on the North coast, there might be glorious sun down on The Lizard Peninsula. Check satellite footage of the weather. The BBC website is very good for this.

The Eden Project

Cornwall has many world class attractions. Most of these are indoor venues. The Eden Project is the obvious choice. Also visit Tate St Ives and Falmouth National Maritime Museum Cornwall.

Levant Mine & Beam Engine

Go underground. Large areas of Cornwall are part of a mining World Heritage Site. Visit Poldark Mine, Geevor Tin Mine or the Levant Mine and Beam Engine. Amazing attractions, rain or shine.

Lanhydrock House

Country houses. Cornwall is blessed with a high number of top country houses. Try Lanhydrock House and Gardens, Cotehele House and Gardens and Antony House. Ideal rainy day attractions. Consider National Trust membership as most of the big country houses are managed by them.

Newquay Bluereef Aquarium, Cornwall

Aquariums and zoos. Newquay Bluereef Aquarium is behind Newquay Towan Beach. Newquay Zoo is a walk away. If you're in East Cornwall, pop across the border to Plymouth's Plymouth National Marine Aquarium.

St Mawes Castle, Cornwall

Castles. Both St Mawes Castle and Falmouth Pendennis Castle have roofs. Try also St Michael's Mount. If it's drizzling and you have wet weather gear, also visit Launceston Castle, Restormel Castle and Tintagel Castle.

Falmouth National Maritime Museum, Cornwall

Museums. From big museums such as Falmouth National Maritime Museum Cornwall and the Royal Cornwall Museum to local museums like Mevagissey Museum and St Agnes Museum, there are a high number of museums to visit. Our favourite is the Charlestown Shipwreck and Heritage Centre. For something different, try Bodmin Jail.

St Ives Barbara Hepworth Museum and Gardens, Cornwall

Art galleries. St Ives and Newlyn are famous for their art heritage. The obvious Cornwall gallery is Tate St Ives.

Cornwall's Crealy Great Adventure Park, Cornwall

Adventure parks. Try Cornwall's Crealy Great Adventure Park, The Flambards Experience and Dairyland Farm World. If you're in North Cornwall, cross into Devon for The Milky Way Adventure Park.

Falmouth Shopping, Cornwall

Shopping. We'd recommend shopping trips to St Ives and Falmouth.

If you're in North or East Cornwall, we'd suggest you cross the border into Devon. Try Morwellham Quay, the Plymouth National Marine Aquarium, Dartington Crystal, Exmoor Zoo and The Milky Way Adventure Park.
