Anglesey AONB, Visitor & Tourism Guide

Anglesey is an island off the coast of North Wales connected to the mainland by two bridges. The AONB itself runs pretty much around the coast of the island. There are a few gaps in the AONB designation (Cymyran Bay or the area just west of Cemaes Bay or the area just north of Red Wharf Bay) but it's easiest to take the Anglesey AONB to mean the island's entire coastline.

Running clockwise from the Menai Suspension Bridge around the coast, visit the National Trust's Plas Newydd and Anglesey Sea Zoo, the prehistoric site of Barclodiad y Gawres and 'The Church in the Sea' at Llangwyfan. Further north, try the South Stack Lighthouse and Parys Mountain south of Amlwch. To the west are and Penmon Priory, Beaumaris Castle World Heritage Site and Beaumaris Goal and Courthouse.

The island's coast is its main draw. Llanddwyn Bay and Island by Newborough Forest are a must. To the north, visit Trearddur Bay and Cemaes Bay. To the west, experience Red Wharf Bay.

Last, the views back towards Snowdonia National Park are wonderful so take time to soak them up.
