At 473 metres, Rippon Tor is one of the highest summits in the east of Dartmoor National Park
Close to Haytor Rocks and Saddle Tor, Rippon Tor's located in a very popular area but, in our experience of researching the moors for years, it's rarely crowded
We'd recommend starting at the car park by Hemsworthy Gate at the bottom of the north west rise of Rippon Tor. There's a good path heading up to the summit
Its summit offers spectacular views over Dartmoor and across this part of Devon to the The English Riviera and South Devon coast
To the west is Pil Tor. To the south are Buckland Beacon and The Ten Commandments Stones
If you head into the heart of Dartmoor National Park, around Bellever Tor, there are great views east to Rippon Tor. From this viewpoint, it rises to a point and looks very impressive
