  • If you're looking for a high quality introduction to Dartmoor National Park, we'd recommend spending half a day at the National Park Visitor Centre in Princetown. Located in the heart of Dartmoor, displays, information boards and videos provide a wealth of information relating to Dartmoor's formation, geology, prehistory, history, wildlife and the industries that have helped to shape the moors. Highlights include a number of remarkable digital reconstructions of the buildings and structures found on the moors. These are a great way to imagine life on Dartmoor over the millennia
  • There's a shop with a comprehensive selection of books, DVDs and clothing. You'll also find lots of local tourist information about things to do and places to visit in the National Park
  • Note that the National Park Visitor Centre was previously known as the High Moorland Visitor Centre. If you're researching the attraction on the internet, you'll bump into the old name. They are the same place. There's a large car park next to the National Park Visitor Centre. We've positioned the attraction on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location. The car park is clearly visible on that imagery. Whilst you're there, pop up to Dartmoor Prison Museum. There are also plenty of places to grab a bite to eat and a drink
