Porthcurno Beach, Cornwall
- Located in Porthcurno, Cornwall, South West England, England
- Porthcurno is a stunning sand beach a short distance from Land's End and St. Ives on the south west coast of Cornwall. Part of Porthcurno Bay, Porthcurno Beach is the west section of a huge low tide arc of sand that runs through Green Bay to the magnificent Pedn Vounder Beach. These are widely recognised as some of the finest beaches in the UK
- There's a large car park in Porthcurno village by Porthcurno Telegraph Museum. You'll also find a public toilet here at the beginning of the path that leads down to the beach. We've positioned Porthcurno Beach on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location. You'll be able to see the car park too. Given the area's popularity, even this large car park fills quickly in high season
- *Please note tide times if you are visiting Porthcurno Beach.* Even though there is safe access to the beach from the car park mentioned, people do get cut off from this safe area when the tide rises as they explore the beach to the east around Green Bay. For example, there was plenty of media coverage of this Easter 2012
- Whilst the beach is a very popular tourist destination on The Land's End Peninsula (The Penwith Peninsula), we'd recommend walking the South West Coast Path past Minack Theatre to Land's End. Alternatively, follow the South West Coast Path to Logan Rock Headland (or Promontory). The views west from this headland are a joy. Refer to the Ordnance Survey Explorer 102 'Land's End' map for detail
- Other top local beaches include Sennen Cove Beach and Gwenver Beach. We'd also recommend the beaches lining Mount's Bay and St Ives Bay
- Visit Sennen, Mousehole, St. Just, Marazion and St. Ives
- Local attractions include Minack Theatre, Mousehole Harbour, the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site and St Michael's Mount. Browse our 'Attractions' section for more ideas. We also locate all attractions on Google maps
- Porthcurno Beach is in one of the 12 areas that make the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)
