House of Marbles, Devon

  • Located in Bovey Tracey, Devon, South West England, England
  • On the outskirts of the Dartmoor 'gateway town' Bovey Tracey, the House of Marbles is a popular and fun shopping and visitor attraction close to the eastern border of the Park
  • A 'working glass and games factory', the House of Marbles is housed in a building that was once part of a thriving pottery industry. You can explore, and read about, the impressive kilns in the open area at the back of the restaurant
  • Whilst you are there, we'd recommend watching the glass blowing and browsing the museum exhibitions
  • The House of Marbles is on the edge of the 'Bovey Basin'. The pottery industry was established here in the mid-eighteenth century and Josiah Wedgwood visited in 1775
  • If this local history is of interest, we'd recommend popping into the Bovey Tracey Heritage Centre as well
  • Other Dartmoor museums include the Museum of Dartmoor Life in Okehampton and Princetown National Park Visitor Centre in Princetown
  • There's plenty of parking on site and we've located the attraction on Google maps so zoom in on the satellite setting to see its exact position
