Hound Tor Medieval Settlement, Devon
- Located in Manaton, Devon, South West England, England
- To the east of Hound Tor (East Dartmoor), near Greator Rocks, are the remains of Hound Tor Medieval Settlement
- The site was most probably deserted owing to the 'Black Death' (1348-1350) although others point to climate change, too. The website 'Legendary Dartmoor' provides very detailed information about the area and a link is provided
- We'd suggest you start from the car park to the north west of Hound Tor (East Dartmoor). Zoom in on the satellite setting of the Google map and you'll see this area very clearly on the map. From there, head up to the tor before dropping down to Hound Tor Medieval Settlement. Again, we've located the village on the Google map for you
- It's a beautiful area so we'd also recommend spending time exploring it. If you're lucky enough to be visiting in Spring, there are usually carpets of bluebells at Holwell Lawn. Haytor Rocks is always popular. In Autumn, head out from Haytor National Park Visitor Centre past Haytor Rocks towards Holwell Tor. The colours are remarkable
- The pretty moorland villages of Widecombe in the Moor and Manaton are nearby. Explore Lustleigh Cleave and see The Ten Commandments Stones
