Headland Warren and Farm, Devon

  • Located in Postbridge, Devon, South West England, England
  • If you visit the Warren House Inn and look east, you'll see the remains of tin mines set in beautiful moorland landscape. Birch Tor, Vitifer Mine and, a little further south, Golden Dagger Tin Mine are located in the area. To feed the miners, rabbits were farmed in large, initially man-made warrens. Hence the name 'Headland Warren'
  • It's a fascinating landscape through which a section of the Two Moors Way runs. Refer to the Ordnance Survey OL28 'Dartmoor' map for detail if you want to explore it
  • We'd specifically recommend starting at the parking area by Bennett's Cross and then following the clear track through the landscape. Alternatively, head up to Birch Tor for views down and across the landscape
