Dartmoor Way, Devon

A long distance footpath in Dartmoor National Park, Devon
90m or 140km long, the Dartmoor Way is a circular route that, roughly speaking, cuts across the middle of Dartmoor National Park and then follows the west, north and east fringes of the Park
From the centre of Dartmoor, running clockwise, major destinations on the Dartmoor Way include Princetown, Tavistock, Okehampton, Chagford, Moretonhampstead, Ashburton and Buckfastleigh
If you want to experience the Dartmoor Way without yomping the full circuit, we'd recommend the areas around Lydford Gorge and Waterfall, Meldon Reservoir and Dam, the Teign Gorge, Lustleigh Cleave and the Dart Gorge. Use the Ordnance Survey OL28 'Dartmoor' map for reference. If you can buy a Harvey British Mountain Map 'Dartmoor' then we'd suggest you study that, too
In the Teign Gorge, the Dartmoor Way meets the Two Moors Way. To the north, it follows a section of the Tarka Trail. To the north west it joins with the Two Castle Trail and West Devon Way
We've walked most of the Dartmoor Way and especially recommend it in late Spring when the wildflowers are out in the hedgerows. Heady stuff
