The Cot Valley is one of a number of beautiful wooded valleys that fringe The Land's End Peninsula (The Penwith Peninsula). The South West Coast Path cuts across Cot Valley. Sennen is four miles south. Cape Cornwall is one mile north. We've positioned Cot Valley on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its location
When we researched and photographed the area, we walked in from the large car parking area at St. Just. We followed a path along the valley. The rocky islands in front of you at sea are The Brisons. Porth Nanven is at the end of the valley. High above, on the north cliff, is English Heritage's Ballowall Barrow - Carn Gluze. We'd recommend viewing the mouth of the Cot Valley from Carn Gloose. The views are amazing
The stream that cuts the valley flows down from the moors near Carn Bean and Busvargus and Tregeseal Common
Note that a tarmac road leads down to Porth Nanven. Take a look at Google's Street View to see the parking area
Cot Valley is part of the St Just Mining District which is within the UNESCO Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. The remains of the tin and copper mining industry can be seen in the landscape
