Cosdon (The Cemetery) Stone Row, Devon

  • Located in South Zeal, Devon, South West England, England
  • Cosdon (The Cemetery) Stone Row is sited on the eastern flank of Cosdon Beacon and Hill. A triple stone row, in our opinion it's one of the finest rows in Dartmoor National Park. We've positioned Cosdon (The Cemetery) Stone Row on Google maps so zoom in on the 'Satellite' setting to see its exact location. Also browse our 'Photo Gallery'. The images were captured in early Autumn. Looking east, one can see the National Trust's Castle Drogo and Gardens. The white Haldon Belverdere (Lawrence Castle) is just visible on the horizon
  • To visit, we'd recommend following the path that's marked on the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL28 'Dartmoor' map. That path passes by Cosdon (The Cemetery) Stone Row as it climbs to the Little Hound Tor area. Whist we've walked to the stone row across Throwleigh Common, it's easy to stray into boggy terrain so it's best to keep to the track. In no circumstance should you walk into the Raybarrow Pool area. This is about one mile south and is a treacherous spot
  • In the local area, see White Moor Stone Circle and Scorhill Stone Circle. Beyond Scorhill Stone Circle are Shovel Down Stone Rows. Over by Belstone village is the Nine Maidens Stone Circle
  • If you're visiting Cosdon (The Cemetery) Stone Row, it's worth heading up to the summit cairn at Cosdon Beacon and Hill. The views are huge. On a clear day, you'll see the North Cornwall coast and Exmoor National Park
