Bartine Castle, Cornwall
- Located in St. Just, Cornwall, South West England, England
- Bartine Castle is most likely a Bronze Age enclosure on top of Bartinney Downs near St. Just on The Land's End Peninsula (The Penwith Peninsula). It is marked 'Bartine Castle Enclosure & Cairns' on the Ordnance Survey Explorer 102 'Land's End' map. The cairns are within the enclosure. Caer Bran Nature Reserve is situated on the north and east flank of the downs below Bartine Castle
- The surrounding area is rich in history and prehistory. For example, the remarkable Carn Euny Ancient Village is a stroll east of the enclosure. Sancreed Chapel and Holy Well are about a mile further on
- When we visited to research and photograph the area, we walked in from the car park at the foot of Chapel Carn Brea. A good track leads across the moors to St Euny's Chapel and Holy Well. Just before those, a path cuts up the side of the down to Bartine Castle. Refer to the Ordnance Survey Explorer 102 'Land's End' map for detail
- Browse our 'Photo Gallery' to see images of Bartine Castle and its trig point at 224m above sea level
- In the local area, also walk to the tops of Chapel Carn Brea and Sancreed Beacon
