Clovelly, Devon

Walk down its central cobbled street to the harbour. The view back up the hill and then across Barnstaple or Bideford Bay is great.

St Ives Bay

When the sun's out and light is clean, the view from pretty much any point in the bay is awesome but we'd head for Godrevy Point. Spectacular on a sunny day and usually seals around Navax Point and The Knavocks.

Golden Cap

The view to Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast, is wonderful from any point along the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Or, stand on its top.

St Michael's Mount

For the view from Mount's Bay to the tidal island. The view in the other direction is splendid, too.

Salisbury Cathedral

One of the finest buildings in the UK. Sit in the Cathedral Close on a summer's day and people watch with Salisbury Cathedral behind.

Putsborough Sand (Beach)

One of the South West's great Atlantic beaches. For similar views, try Saunton Sands (Beach) or Perran Beach further south.

Stourhead Estate

Eighteenth century gardens and among the most famous in the UK. Stourhead in Autumn is a must-see view.

Dunkery Beacon and Hill

The highest point on Exmoor National Park with a 360 view of the surrounding area. South Wales visible across the Bristol Channel.

Arlington Row Cottages

The most beautiful part of 'the most beautiful village in England' (William Morris). A classic Cotswolds view.
