Tors in South West England A tor is a rocky outcrop. South West England, especially in Dartmoor National Park and Bodmin Moor, has hundreds of them. If you spend time exploring this part of the world, you see similar rock structures from the south west tip of Cornwall on the The Land's End Peninsula (The Penwith Peninsula) all the way up into Devon. Further north east, there's the internationally famous tor at Glastonbury. Browse our 'Top 10 Recommended Tors in South West England' to discover more. We'd also suggest you read our 'Top 10 Recommended Tors in Dartmoor National Park' list. By James Penman.

One of Dartmoor's finest. In the west of the Park up the road from Tavistock. If you can catch late light as the sun sets in the west, you'll see these rock structures at their best.

Arguably the most remote area in southern England. It's a big yomp in to get to the tor but the views and rock structures are reward enough.
