Kents Cavern

A cave, so a safe bet for a rainy day. The place is amazing. Part of the The English Riviera Geopark, humans have been using the caves for 350,000 years. Plenty to do in Torquay and The English Riviera, as well.

Wookey Hole

Another cave, another very dry attraction. Gets busy. Close by, try Wells Cathedral. Note that Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is within reasonable driving distance at under 20 miles as the crow flies.

STEAM, Museum of the Great Western Railway

Internationally important museum in Swindon in the county of Wiltshire. Next door to a very large retail outlet centre.

SS Great Britain

The world's first great ocean liner. Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, it's an important detail in world history. In central Bristol City.

Longleat House

Go for the house but if it's light rain, experience Longleat Safari Park and Longleat Adventure Park.

The Eden Project

One of South West England's top attractions. Thankfully, a lot of The Eden Project is under cover when the rains come. Down the road, at Charlestown, we'd also recommend the Charlestown Shipwreck and Heritage Centre.

Roman Baths

One of many good rainy day attractions in Bath. The city has UNESCO World Heritage status so it's essential UK visiting anyway.

Salisbury Cathedral

One of the finest buildings in the UK. The Chapter House contains one of the four remaining copies of the Magna Carta. In the centre of Salisbury. Also, pop into Salisbury St Thomas Beckett Church to see its Doom Painting.

Beaulieu National Motor Museum

Fascinating place, even if you're not into motor vehicles. On site, also visit Beaulieu Abbey and Beaulieu Palace House and Gardens.
