Rich history and top UK attractions
Located in central London and, arguably, the city's most famous borough, the City of Westminster's home to Westminster Abbey and Westminster Palace, Buckingham Palace and much of London's 'West End'. Millions of international and domestic tourists visit the City of Westminster every year.

The borough runs from the River Thames by Westminster Palace north to Regent's Park and from the boundary of the City of London by Temple west to Bayswater and Hyde Park. It incorporates many of London's most famous tourist areas such as Soho and the West End, Westminster and parts of Covent Garden.

St James's Park, Regent's Park, Hyde Park and Green Park are all within its borders as are The National Gallery and Tate Britain. Clearly, it's a superb destination in which to spend some holiday or leisure time.

Explore its different areas
As ever, we'd recommend exploring the City of Westminster as much as possible on foot. Ideally, book a hotel somewhere central (see our 'Top 10 Recommended Hotels in the City of Westmintser' list below for some ideas) and you'll find many of the UK's top tourist attractions on your doorstep.

Start at Trafalgar Square. Spend a few days exploring The National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery, the area around Covent Garden Market and Somerset House. Walk Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus. At night, take in a West End show or visit the The Royal Opera House. Try a restaurant in China Town and pop into Fortnum & Mason. If the Royal Academy of Arts (RA) is running an exhibition that takes your fancy, we'd thoroughly recommend half a day there, too.

Next up, head for the Westminster area.

*Other City of Westminster Districts/Areas: Bayswater, Belgravia, Covent Garden, Fitzrovia, Holborn, Hyde Park, Knightsbridge, Lisson Grove, Maida Vale, Marylebone, Millbank, Paddington, Pimlico, Queen's Park, St. James's, St. John's Wood, Soho, Westbourne Green
