Glasgow, Glasgow, Visitor & Tourism Guide

One of the UK's great cities
On the banks of the River Clyde, Glasgow is Scotland's largest and most populous city. With around 2 million people, or about 40% of the population, living in or around the city, it's one of the UK's great cities.

City Centre and West End
Most, but not all, of the major attractions are concentrated in Glasgow's City Centre and West End. The two areas are north of the River Clyde, the West End, unsurprisingly, being west of the City Centre.

The City Centre is home to Glasgow Cathedral and St Mungo Museum, Glasgow Gallery Of Modern Art and the medieval house of Provand's Lordship.

In the West End, visit Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and Glasgow University.

To the east of the City Centre, try Glasgow Green Park and the People's Palace, Glasgow Green Park.

South of the Clyde
Across the water, south of the Clyde, are Glasgow Science Centre and The Burrell Collection. There are particularly fine views of the city from Glasgow Tower.

Edinburgh
Last, if visiting Glasgow, drive east to experience Edinburgh City, too. About 70km (43m) west of Glasgow, Edinburgh's centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site split into an Old Town and New Town. Obvious attractions inlcude Edinburgh Castle, Arthur's Seat and Princes Street.
