In South West England, on the border between south west Devon and north east Cornwall. Borders Dartmoor National Park to the east. Covers the area around the Rivers Tamar and Tavy.
Steep hills thick with trees rise from the Rivers River Tamar and Tavy. Wide and long stretches of water in the estuary. Fine views south to the Tamar Bridges. Deserves its status as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. Fascinating open air museum at Morwellham Quay. Calstock Viaduct and Calstock are magnificent. Just to the south is one of the 12 areas that make up the Cornwall AONB. [Information provided by picturetheuk] External Links www.tamarvalley.org.uk |
