'Cathedral of the Moor'
Arguably the most famous village in Dartmoor National Park, Widecombe-in-the-Moor is dominated by its church tower, known locally as the 'Cathedral of the Moor'. The village offers great access to the central and eastern sections of the Park and is close to many of Dartmoor's most famous tors. Clearly, it's a great place from which to walk.

Located in a valley that runs along the side of Hamel Down, we'd recommend heading west on foot from one of the car parks in the centre of the village to join the Two Moors Way as it follows the spine of Hamel Down. The views are massive.

Famous for its September fair which dates from the mid nineteenth century, there's a good pub, shops and cafes in which to eat and drink. It's possible to visit The National Trust's Sextons Cottage and Church House. Visiting the church is a must.

Dramatic tors
Surrounded by some of the most dramtic tors in the National Park, we'd recommend walking to Bonehill Rocks and Chinkwell Tor, Hound Tor (East Dartmoor) and, most well known, Haytor Rocks.

Further afield
Given Widecombe-in-the-Moor's location, it's a reasonably short drive to both The English Riviera and South Devon. The A38 offers fast access to both Exeter and Plymouth. We'd also recommend visiting Totnes as well.
