Clovelly is known as one of South West England's top coastal villages, Beer is one of our favourites in the UK. Widecombe in the Moor is a superb moorland village and Lynmouth is a treat on the Exmoor coast. Bigbury-on-Sea

South Devon village connected to Burgh Island by a sandy beach when the tide's out. To the east is the wonderful Bantham Beach and Dunes, to the west Challaborough Beach. Walk the South West Coast Path to Thurlestone.

Widecombe in the Moor

Striking moorland village in Dartmoor National Park. Close to some of the Park's most famous tors including Haytor Rocks. Easily accessible from The English Riviera and the South Devon AONB.

Clovelly

One of South West England's most famous villages. Stunning. Built into the side of a steep, wooded coastline. Views from the harbour at the bottom of the village are memorable.

Lynmouth

On the coast within Exmoor National Park. Dense woodland behind leading to the National Trust's Watersmeet. Home to the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway. Also visit Porlock Weir and Porlock.

Mortehoe

Not particularly well known but exceptional. Just north of Woolacombe and with some of the best views anywhere in the South West. Great place. In the North Devon AONB. West of Exmoor National Park.

Beer

Unique. A pretty village leading to a pebble beach set beneath tall white cliffs. Fishing boats, walkways and plenty of deck chairs in which to relax. Over in the East Devon AONB. Walk the South West Coast Path to Branscombe.

East Portlemouth

Across the water from Salcombe in South Devon with fine views and walking on the South West Coast Path. Take a boat ride up The Salcombe Kingsbridge Estuary.

Belstone

In the north of Dartmoor National Park offering easy access to the high moors. If you don't fancy the moors, take a walk into Belstone Cleave.

Torcross

Pretty much in the centre of Start Bay with stunning coastal walking north and south. We'd also thoroughly recommend Beesands and Hallsands.

Lydford

Another beautiful Dartmoor village but this time with a castle and, most important, the National Trust owned Lydford Gorge and Waterfall. The latter is amazing. Tamar Valley AONB is to the west.
