Burgh Island, Devon

A tidal island off the south coast by Bigbury-on-Sea. Home to one of Devon's most famous hotels. Land and sea here are exceptional with Bantham Beach and the South West Coast Path to Thurlestone.

Salcombe

A Devon classic. On a bank of The Kingsbridge Salcombe Estuary. Top beaches, sailing, food and drink. The coast east (Prawle Point, Start Bay) and west (Bolberry Down) of here is magnificent.

Dartmouth, Devon

An amazing place. Bigger than Salcombe but without the string of sandy beaches. You could spend weeks here without having to move.

Mortehoe, Devon

In the north east of Devon with views across to Lundy Isle and over Morte Bay. Woolacombe Sand, Putsborough Sand and our favourite, Combesgate Beach. Watersmeet Hotel here is in an idyllic location with direct access to the beach.

Chagford

Dartmoor National Park. Two of the UK's top luxury hotels can be found here, Gidleigh Park and Bovey Castle. Walk the Teign Gorge by Castle Drogo.

Lynmouth, Devon

Exmoor National Park this time. 'England's little Switzerland'. The Tors Hotel is perched above the village in an amazing location.

Budleigh Salterton

A superb location in east Devon. The coastal walking is as good as it gets anywhere in the UK.

Beer, Devon

Heading towards the Devon and Dorset border, we were delighted by this small fishing village. Unique place with a superb beach.

The English Riviera

The stretch of coastline running from Babbacombe through Torquay down to Brixham. The Barcel Torquay Imperial Hotel is in a stunning location.

Torcross

In the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. One of a number of small villages by long, shingle beaches that fringe Start Bay. On a sunny day, bliss.
