Devon is well known for its beautiful beaches and coastline. These beaches line, and the South West Coast Path follows, some of the UK's most famous bays. Start Bay, Devon

Within the South Devon AONB, Start Bay is home to a number of popular shingle beaches. Visit Blackpool Sands, Slapton Sands, Bee Sands and Hall Sands. Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve is known for its winter starling roosts.

Tor Bay, Devon

This is The English Riviera. It's an exceptionally beautiful place. On the south east coast of Devon, highlights include Torquay Marina, Kents Cavern, red sand beaches such as Goodrington Sands and coastal features like Berry Head National Nature Reserve (Berry Head & Sharkham Point).

Bigbury Bay, Devon

Perhaps best known for Burgh Island and its Art Deco Burgh Island Hotel, Bigbury Bay is the site of many amazing sand beaches. Bantham Beach and Dunes and Bigbury-on-Sea Beach are highlights.

Morte Bay

Stunnung bay in the North Devon AONB. Lined by Putsborough Sand (Beach) and Woolacombe Sand (Beach). Note that Croyde Bay is to the south.

Barnstaple or Bideford Bay

Huge bay arcing along the North Devon coastline. Highlights include Clovelly and the vast Saunton Sands (Beach).

Lannacombe Bay, Devon

In the South Devon AONB to the east of Salcombe and The Salcombe Kingsbridge Estuary. Not particularly well know but great for small, secluded beaches and coastal walking on the South West Coast Path.

Lynmouth Bay

Well known and beautiful bay off the Exmoor National Park coast. We'd recommend walking The Valley of Rocks.

Babbacombe Bay, Devon

Just north of Tor Bay and The English Riviera. Stunning place. Visit for the views from The Ness and Babbacombe Downs and Gardens.

Lyme Bay, Dorset

Huge bay off the coast of Devon and Dorset. In the Devon area of the bay, we'd recommend trips to Beer, Branscombe and Sidmouth.

Wembury Bay, Devon

Within the South Devon AONB and close to Plymouth, the walking and views along the South West Coast Path here are magnificent.
