Find places to stay around Thurlestone in the South Hams of South Devon. The beaches around this coastal village are magnificent. It's a short-ish walk west to Bantham Beach and Dunes and Burgh Island, too.

Gorgeous beaches
Not particularly well known, Thurlestone has some amazing beaches and coastline. The village itself is set back from the coastline with a private golf course between. There's plenty of parking to the east of the golf course with access down a path to Thurlestone Leas Foot Sand (Beach).

To the east of Thurlestone Leas Foot Sand (Beach) are Thurlestone Sands/South Milton Sands (Beach). Thurlestone Sand is the western section of this long strip of sand and South Milton Sands is the eastern section. The latter is National Trust property with a car park (charges apply) and a wildlife area behind. Out at sea, you'll see Thurlestone Rock with its distinctive hole.

To the west of Thurlestone Leas Foot Sand (Beach) are a number of smaller beaches beneath the golf course. Further west is the glorious Bantham Beach and Dunes and Bigbury-on-Sea Beach.

South West Coast Path and views
The South West Coast Path runs along the side of the golf course and provides amazing views west to Burgh Island and east to the area around Outer Hope. For views, this is as good a section of the coastal path as you'll get and comes highly recommended. It's gentle stuff so you don't need to be that fit to walk it.

Local area
On the South Devon coast, there's plenty to do and see in the local area. To your east is Salcombe and to the west is Bigbury-on-Sea. Plymouth, Dartmoor National Park and Dartmouth provide great day trips.
