Within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with Prawle Point and Start Point to the east and Bolberry Down and Hope Cove to the west.
Amazing beaches (East Portlemouth Beaches, Mill Bay Beach, South Sands) and great walking on the South West Coast Path (to Soar Mill Cove, for example).
Try also Overbeck's Garden and Museum and the South Sands Sea Tractor/Taxi is great fun!
If you're looking for day trips from Salcombe, head west to Bantham Beach and Bigbury-on-Sea Beach or north to Dartmouth. Dartmoor National Park is a reasonable drive to the north west. Plymouth is to the west.
