South Dartmoor National Park
On the southern border of Dartmoor National Park, Ivybridge is a super location for both the moors and coast. The start, or end, of the Two Moors Way, the area's great for walking. We'd recommend a trip to Western and Ugborough Beacons for top views of the southern moors and the Devon coast. We'd also recommend the Erme-Plym Trail which leads to Plymouth to the west.
Zoo and Country House
Dartmoor Zoological Park is close as is Saltram House and Gardens. The latter was used as a location for the 1995 adaptation of Austen's 'Sense and Sensibility'.
South Devon beaches
If you base yourself in Ivybridge, you're also a short drive from some wonderful beaches. Browse the recommendations in our South Devon AONB section for ideas.
Plymouth and the Tamar Valley AONB
Last, if you're spending some time in the Ivybridge area, put a day aside to visit Plymouth and the Tamar Valley AONB. Plymouth has a fascinating history and is, in places, beautiful. The Tamar Valley is much under visited but, in our opinion, a real treat.
