The UK equivalent of Tuscany
The Cotswolds run from just north of Bath in Somerset up to Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire.

In South West England. 90 miles long and 25 miles wide, the Cotswolds straddle Somerset and Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

This is a seriously beautiful area, perhaps the UK equivalent of Tuscany.

Fringed by stunning towns and cities
The AONB is surrounded by stunning towns and cities built from the area's stone: Bath, Bradford-on-Avon, Malmesbury, Cirencester, Stroud, Gloucester and Cheltenham. One possibility when visiting the area is to base yourself in one of these places. An alternative is to pick a village ...

Famous for its pretty villages
Castle Combe and Bibury are often quoted as being the prettiest villages in the UK. Then there's Lower Slaughter and Northleach, Broadway and the small town of Chipping Campden.

On the southern boundary is Bradford on Avon Tithe Barn, on the northern boundary Upton House. Dryham Park is amazing.

Top attractions
There are dramatic churches such as Cirencester St John the Baptist Church and Northleach St Peter and Paul Church. At Westonbirt is a National Arboretum and up by Winchcombe is ancient .

Cirencester was once the second city of Roman Britain and the Corinium Museum there is great. On the border of the AONB, Malmesbury Abbey, Gloucester Cathedral and Bradford on Avon St Laurence Church are all mighty impressive. A few miles east of the AONB is Cotswolds Wildlife Park.

If you live in or are visiting the UK, the Cotswolds are a must.
