Villages in Cornwall
Cornwall's famous for its intimate coastal harbour villages. Some, such as Boscastle and Port Isaac, are built into rugged coastline. Others, such as Sennen and Perranporth, are located by stunning beaches. Here are our 'Top 10 Recommended Villages in Cornwall'. Browse our other 'Top 10' lists for further ideas. We'd also suggest you look at our South West England and Devon summary guides to discover other villages in the region.

Sennen, Cornwall

A brisk walk from Land's End via the South West Coast Path with awesome views across Whitesand Bay with its blond beaches. Just magnificent. On The Land's End Peninsula (The Penwith Peninsula), also visit Mousehole and Porthcurno. Explore the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site.

Boscastle

An archetypal Cornish fishing village strung out along a coastal inlet with chunky harbour walls and dramatic cliffs. Superb local walking. Follow the South West Coast Path south to Tintagel or north, over High Cliff (Boscastle/Crackington Haven), to Crackington Haven.

Mevagissey

East Cornwall. Gorgeous harbour village close to The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Superb place. To the south west, explore the The Roseland Peninsula and St. Mawes. To the north, we're big fans of Charlestown.

Tintagel

Home to one of the great castle ruins in England. Again, great walking country on the South West Coast Path. Good selection of pubs and shops. Boscastle is to the north east. The Camel Estuary is to the south west.

Cawsand, Cornwall

By Rame Head and looking out across the Plymouth Sound to South Devon. To the west is the mighty Whitsand Bay. From here, visit Plymouth, Dartmoor National Park and the Tamar Valley AONB.

Rock, Cornwall

We'd recommend Rock or any of the villages around the Camel Estuary. Rock's across the water from Padstow (boat crossing runs regularly). The beaches here are stunning.

Perranporth, Cornwall

The beach here, especially the northern section, is up there with Sennen Cove Beach/Whitesand Bay for beauty. A very popular destination for this reason. We'd also recommend Holywell Beach and Dunes to the north. Walk via the South West Coast Path.

Porthcurno

A small village leading to a perfect, sheltered beach. Close to Land's End. The unique Minack Theatre on the cliffs above. On The Land's End Peninsula (The Penwith Peninsula). Also visit Sennen and Mousehole.

Lizard, Cornwall

We chose this one for its location. A short walk from the beautiful Lizard Point and a stiffer walk to the exceptional Kynance Cove. To the north, explore the Helford Estuary. In the local area, visit Coverack and Porthallow.

Port Isaac

Another classic Cornish fishing village and harbour. Location for many a TV programme. Great views across Port Isaac Bay. The Camel Estuary is to the south west. Tintagel and Boscastle to the north east.
