Beaches in Cornwall
We've researched and photographed hundreds of beaches within South West England over the years. From Cornwall's vast Atlantic facing sands to its more intimate and sandy coves, the county is home to some of the best beaches in the South West and across the entire UK. Here are our 'Top 10 Recommended Beaches in Cornwall'. To see other suggestions, search 'Cornwall beaches'. We return to this list every year and update it. By James Penman.

Sennen Cove Beach

Sandy beach at the southern end of Whitesand Bay on The Land's End Peninsula (The Penwith Peninsula) . A short(ish) walk from Land's End. One of the most stunning beaches we've seen in the UK. In the local area, try also Gwenver Beach and Porthcurno Beach, St Ives Harbour & Beach and Gwithian Beach.

Rock Beach

Beautiful, sandy beach running along the side of the Camel Estuary. Padstow across the water. The Camel Estuary is lined with a number of super beaches. Try Harbour Cove and Hawker's Cove Beach, too.

Pedn Vounder Beach, Cornwall

Pedn Vounder Beach and Porthcurno Beach. Glorious sand beaches a short distance from Land's End and Penzance on the south coast of Cornwall. The impressive Minack Theatre close by.

Perran Beach

Massive blond sand beach running from Perranporth north to Ligger Point. Produced an involuntary 'wow' when we first saw it. Further north is the beautiful Holywell Beach and Dunes.

Mother Ivey's Bay

Privately owned beach on Trevose Head close to Padstow. Constantine Bay Beach is an equally impressive beach on the other side of the headland.

Sandy Mouth Beach, Cornwall

Sandy Mouth Beach is part of a huge stretch of sand in the Bude area in North Cornwall. It's particularly impressive at low tide. We'd also suggest you push north to the rocky beaches near the Cornwall/Devon border. Try Crackington Haven Beach.

Porthminster Beach, Cornwall

One of many beaches lining St Ives Bay, Porthminster is a beautiful blond sand beach with great facilities offering top views of St Ives. At low tide, we'd also recommend walking from Hayle Beach to Gwithian Beach.

Marazion Beach, Cornwall

Arc of sand running along the coastline by Penzance and Marazion. Dominated by St Michael's Mount which is accessible by boat or on foot across causeway when tide's out.

Chapel Porth Beach, Cornwall

At low tide, this huge beach runs from the cliffs near Wheal Coates (Tin Mine) down to Porth Towan. Stunning place.

Fistral Beach, Cornwall

'International Surfing Centre'. One of Newquay's many beaches. Great place to people watch. A series of beautiful beaches run north of Fistral to Watergate Beach/Tregurrian Beach. Walk the beaches and coast path here.
