Tip of West Cornwall
South east of
Land's End and the sublime
Sennen Cove Beach, Porthcurno is a small village on the tip of West
Cornwall's Penwith Peninsula. Both
Penzance and
St. Ives are to the north east.
Beach and theatre
The village is best known for its magnificent
beach which is regularly included in 'Top Ten' lists of beaches by UK media. High above the beach is the remarkable open-air
Minack Theatre.
Telegraph museum
Also within the village is a
museum of international importance 'where the cables that linked Britain with its Empire and other nations came ashore' (source: Porthcurno Telegraph Museum website, link provided).
Local attractions
Land's End is a must, the
South West Coast Path a joy to walk in this area. We think
Sennen Cove Beach is sublime as is the
bay in which it's located.
North west of Porthcurno is an impressive section of the
Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. We'd recommend
Botallack Mine The Crowns Engine Houses and the
Levant Mine and Beam Engine.
North east are
St Michael's Mount and
Mount's Bay.
St Ives
Tate St Ives,
St Ives Bay and its
beaches are superb. Given that
St. Ives is, arguably, the top destination in the area, we'd recommend you spend some time exploring it.
St Ives Harbour & Beach is particularly impressive.
