Famous Cornwall harbour village
A famous, and very popular, Cornish harbour village on The Land's End Peninsula (The Penwith Peninsula) just south of Newlyn and Penzance with views across Mount's Bay to St Michael's Mount. If you have kids and choose this as a destination in which to holiday or short break, make sure you read 'The Mousehole Cat' by Antonia Barber (author) and Nicola Bayley (illustrator).

Harbour beach and walls
One of Cornwall's most impressive harbours*, Mousehole's harbour walls tower over you as you walk the area at low tide. The harbour is fringed with pubs and shops, cafes and pretty buildings. There's a sandy beach, too, that's popular. Beyond the harbour walls, to the north and south, there are rocky areas/beaches with top views to sea.

The South West Coast Path
Given that Cornwall and South West England are famous for their coastline, make sure you walk a section, or sections, of the South West Coast Path. To the north and east, you'll pass through Newlyn and Penzance, skirting Mount's Bay, on your way to Marazion. To the south and west, the coast arcs towards Porthcurno and then Land's End.

The local area and Penwith Peninsula
You could spend weeks exploring the Penwith Peninsula. Land's End is England's most westerly point and St. Just its most south westerly town.

Sennen Cove Beach, in Whitesand Bay, is one of the UK's top beaches. Porthcurno Beach regularly appears in top ten beaches lists within the national press.

The Penwith Peninsula is also home to some of the finest sites in the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. Try Botallack Mine The Crowns Engine Houses and the Levant Mine and Beam Engine. Also visit the Zennor area where D H Lawrence once lived.

Inland, on the windswept moors, there's a concentration of prehistoric sites. Try Lanyon Quoit.

St Ives and day trips
Clearly, you must visit St. Ives if you're in this part of the UK. St Ives Bay is marketed, quite rightly, as one of the most beautiful bays in the world.

For day trips, try the River Camel and Estuary area. We'd recommend the Helford River and Estuary area, too. To the east of the Penwith Peninsula are Kynance Cove and the Lizard Point.

* We'd also recommend St Ives Harbour and Porthleven Harbour, Port Isaac Harbour & Beach and Newquay Harbour. For other [Cornwall] and UK harbours, go here.
