Eco luxury and natural beauty
If you're looking for something a little special, perhaps a honeymoon or birthday celebration destination, then we'd recommend Mawgan Porth. High above the beach, behind the coastal path is 'The Scarlet', a luxury eco hotel. It's a fine base from which to explore the natural beauty of the area.

Bedruthan Steps and Watergate Bay
Whilst the beach at Mawgan Porth is plenty big and beautiful, head a little north to explore the National Trust's Bedruthan Steps. There's a (steep) descent to the beach there but note that at high tide the water comes to the foot of the cliffs.

To the south of Mawgan Port is the stunning Watergate Beach/Tregurrian Beach which, in turn, leads to the collection of top beaches around Newquay.

Bays, Padstow and the Camel Estuary
A short drive or bus ride to the north are the stunning sandy bays around Trevose Head. Try Constantine Bay Beach and Mother Ivey's Bay, Harlyn Bay Beach and Trevone Bay Beach. A little further on is Harbour Cove and Hawker's Cove Beach which looks out across the Camel Estuary. Padstow's nearby.

Day trips
For day trips from Mawgan Porth, we'd suggest The Eden Project and then Fowey. The Wheal Martyn China Clay Country Park in that area is fascinating as is a drive through the Cornish Alps.

Heading down the A30, try St. Ives and the Penwith Peninsula on which you'll explore Land's End.

From Mawgan Porth, it's also very easy to get to Truro and Falmouth.
