West coast village
Small village just north of St. Just and south west of St. Ives on the Penwith Peninsula in West Cornwall. Part of the St. Just Mining District, Botallack offers excellent access to Botallack Mine The Crowns Engine Houses, one of our favourite sites within the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site.

The Crowns Mine
One of a number of mines in the Botallack area, Botallack Mine The Crowns Engine Houses sits in a dramatic location on the edge of cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. We'd recommend parking at, and exploring, the National Trust's Levant Mine and Beam Engine to the north of Botallack and then walking the South West Coast Path to Botallack Mine The Crowns Engine Houses. The landscape's stunning and the walk into the Botallack mining area unforgettable.

Local attractions
In addition to Botallack Mine The Crowns Engine Houses and the National Trust's Levant Mine and Beam Engine, visit Geevor Tin Mine. To the north east are Zennor, once home to a young DH Lawrence, and St. Ives. Tate St Ives is a must, St Ives Bay is one of the UK's best.

To the south, visit Sennen Cove Beach in Whitesand Bay. On its day, when the sun's out, we think this is one of the finest beaches around. South of Sennen, try Land's End. It's a strange, commercial experience if you're just expecting to the see the landscape of the most westerly point in England but, nevertheless, well worth a visit.

South west of Botallack are Porthcurno Beach and the superb open air Minack Theatre. West is St Michael's Mount and Mount's Bay.
